Hey Reader! Here's something I want you to sit with for a second. How many times have you told yourself you were going to start — really start — and then didn't follow through? Not because you didn't want to. Not because you don't know what to do. But because somewhere along the way, after enough false starts, enough programs that worked until they didn't, enough Monday mornings that turned into next Monday mornings — you stopped fully believing yourself. That's not a character flaw. That's a trust deficit. Every time we make a commitment to ourselves and don't keep it, we make a small withdrawal from our own self-trust account. Do that enough times — and diet culture is very good at making sure you do — and you end up in a place where motivation isn't actually the problem. Believing you'll follow through is. That's why waiting to feel motivated doesn't work. You can't accept motivation from someone you don't trust. When that someone has repeatedly let you down, you'll never believe them when they say "you can do this." So here's what actually rebuilds it. Not a 75-day challenge. Not an all-or-nothing overhaul. This → the smallest possible commitment you can make to yourself — and keep. Something so simple it almost feels too easy. Because the goal isn't the action itself. The goal is the confidence deposit. Proving to yourself, one small kept promise at a time, that you are someone who follows through. That's what rebuilds trust. And trust is what changes everything. Here's the other thing I want you to consider. There's a difference between someone who is trying to eat better and someone who is a person who nourishes her body. One of those identities is constantly fighting herself. The other one has already decided. You don't have to earn that identity. You just have to start claiming it — and then take the smallest possible action that confirms it. One kept promise. Then another. Then another. That's the whole system. That's when you'll finally feel confident that you can do this. On Monday, I have something to share with you. Watch for it. |
